The Get SET SummerWeek program is a hands-on science camp experience for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade girls. Through workshops, tours, field trips, and small group activities girls have an opportunity to explore and gain competency in engineering fields, math and science. The program is held at a local university in August where the focus is on hands-on engineering and leadership activities that are led by women engineers who volunteer their time. The girls get to experience dorm living in preparation for eventually moving away to college and while at camp they follow standards of conduct.
This is what our girls have to say about Get SET Summer Week.....
|
"When I first got accepted into the Get SET
program, I didn't know about engineering and wasn't at all interested in any
of the fields. After Summer Week, and all our workshops and tours, I
have grown to learn and like certain aspects of engineering, like computer
engineering or software programming."
